Biography

2013:  Named to All-MEAC Academic team.  Made 14 appearances including 12 starts in his final season at NCCU, tying a career-high with three wins while logging a career-best 84.0 innings.  Finished with a career-high 37 strikeouts.  Earned his first win of the season with a magical 8.0 inning performance in 3-2 victory over Bethune-Cookman where whe allowed five hits and no earned runs with five strikeouts to earn MEAC Pitcher of the Week honors for the week of March 10.  Struck out at least one batter in all but one game recording five strikeouts on three occasions.  Saved his best for last, going 7.0 innings in-relief with four hits, no earned runs and five strikeouts as the Eagles ousted the Spartans on Norfolk State in the 2013 MEAC Baseball Championships to earn his third victory of the season.                    

2012:  Despite missing time due to an injury, worked his way into the weekend rotation, even became one of the most effective pitchers in the later part of his first season at NCCU. At-the-plate batted .217 with 15 hits in 69 at-bats. On the mound, ended the year with the third lowest ERA (5.24) and was third on the team in wins (3-3). Made 15 appearances including seven starts and recorded one save on the year. Threw 56.2 innings with 31 strikeouts with 15 walks. Earned his first NCCU victory against arch-rival North Carolina A&T on April 15 throwing seven innings scattering eight hits with three earned runs allowed and two strikeouts as the Eagles earned the series victory over the Aggies. Went eight innings allowing only three earned runs with three strikeouts in the series sweep of Florida A&M. Earned a no-decision in the Eagles 4-3 upset win over Bethune-Cookman going five innings and surrendering three earned runs with two strikeouts. In the batter’s box his highlight game of the year came against Longwood in game one of the doubleheader where he went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI in the NCCU victory. His lone double of the season came on April 29 against Savannah State.

Essex C.C.: Played in 44 games with 20.0 innings pitched, 10 strikeouts, and a 3.60 ERA. Recorded 29 runs and .275 BA.

High School (Riverbend H.S.): In 2007, reached the Regional Semi-Finals. Was second team All- Region first base.

Personal: Born March 26, 1990 in Alexandria, VA. Son of Frank and Faye Romano and brother of Mary, Angelina, Catherine Romano.
