North Carolina Central University Athletics

Prior to NCCU:

CSU Monterey Bay (2019-20), College of the Redwoods (2017-18): Started all 80 games he appeared in at CSU Monterey Bay, and batted .337 with 105 hits.  Drove in 50 RBI with 20 doubles, two triples and a home runs, and slugged .452 with a .445 on-base percentage.  Batted .368 in 22 games in 2020 before the season was cut short, and slugged .460 with six doubles and one triple.  Collected a career-best four hits twice, including a 4-for-5 effort against Chico State with a double, and three runs scored in 2020.

Knocked 73 hits at a .324 rate as a junior in 2019, and batted .456 (26-for-57) during a 15-game hitting streak.  Picked up 14 doubles, one triple and four home runs to drive in 32 RBI, and slugged .449.  Honorable mention All-CCAA in 2019.

Graduated magna cum laude with a degree in exercise science.
 
Played 76 games at College of the Redwoods, and batted .356 with a .460 on-base percentage and .467 slugging percentage with 96 hits, 24 doubles, and two home runs.  Holds the Corsairs’ career-record for doubles with 24, and is tied for fourth with 56 career RBI.  Also has the fifth-best career batting average.  Set the single-season record with 44 runs scored as a sophomore in 2018, and batted .371 that season with a .524 on-base percentage and .514 slugging percentage.  Swiped nine bases as a freshman in 2017 and didn’t get caught stealing.  Two-time First Team All-Golden Valley Conference member, and earned a gold glove as a freshman.

High School (Fortuna Union H.S.):  Batted over .500 as a junior and a senior, and was a two-time All-Humboldt Del Norte League selection.  Also was a Wendy’s High School Heisman local winner.  Was salutatorian of his graduating class, and drum major for the school’s marching band.

Personal: Born in Fortuna, California.  Parents are Robert Figueiredo and Amy Leon.  Enjoys golfing, hiking, traveling, trying new restaurants and playing pick up basketball.  Getting his masters in athletic administration at NCCU.
