Biography

2016: Became first NCCU male athlete to be named to CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team.  Second Team All-MEAC and Academic All-MEAC selection.  Appeared in 48 games and started 45 as a utility player.  Finished second on the team in batting with an average of .329, and finished third in slugging percentage at .459.  Finished in the top-10 of multiple standings categories in a single season in the modern era at NCCU including in hits with 56, home runs with five, and total bases with 78.  Had a seven-, and eight-game hitting streak during the campaign, and tallied 17 multi-hit games.  Drove in 26 RBI with seven multi-RBI games.  Batted .538 during the MEAC Championship with seven hits and two RBI and two runs scored.  Made 14 appearances from the bullpen and carried a 3.50 ERA over 18 complete innings.  Struck out 26 batters and locked down his first career save over two innings with four strikeouts against Longwood (April 19).  

2015:  Played 36 games and started 29.  Had a five-game hitting streak from February 25 to March 7, capped with a 3-for-4 performance with one RBI at Bethune-Cookman.  Threw out a team-high eight runners behind the plate and was responsible for 113 putouts.  Made first career appearance on the mound in relief against Presbyterian (May 5) and pitched two innings without allowing a run, giving up three hits and striking out one batter. Earned MEAC player of the week honors for the week ending on February 15. Named to preseason All-MEAC second team.

2014:  Named to All-MEAC Academic Team.  Played in 41 games starting in 36 mostly behind the plate.  Finished his second season batting .238 at-the-dish with 22 RBI.  Hit his first career home run in the comeback victory over Florida A&M on April 27 where he also went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI.   Recorded seven multiple hit games which ranked seventh best on the roster and was fifth on the team with five multi-RBI games.  Went 1-for-4 with a double and three RBI against Florida A&M in game one of the doubleheader in Tallahassee on March 22.  Finished the afternoon batting 3-for-8 with a double, a run scored and five RBI.  Went 5-for-9 with a double two runs scored and five RBI on April 2 and 5 against Virginia State and arch-rival NC A&T.  Racked up three RBI with a walk and a stolen base and two runs scored in the sweep-clinching victory over the Aggies on April 6.  Went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI on April 18 at Savannah State.  Finished the season with a three game hitting streak.

2013:  Moved into the starting lineup in the late portion of the year earning time in 24 games with 18 starts batting .232 on the year.  Finished with a double, triple, four runs scored, and eight RBI.  Highlight game of the year came on April 28 against Florida A&M where he went 4-for-6 with his first career double, a run scored, and two RBI.   Went 4-for-9 with his first career triple, three RBI, and a run scored in a two-game span in the 2013 MEAC Baseball Tournament.  Threw out a team-high 11 runners.  

High School (Olympic H.S.):  Named All-Conference in his junior and senior year and batted .400 every year in High School.
