North Carolina Central University Athletics

2017:  Made 25 appearances and started 14 games.  Collected five RBI with two doubles, and touched home eight times.  Made 22 putouts and two assists as an outfielder without an error.  Had a two-hit game with two RBI and a double against UNCW (April 9).

2016: Made 23 appearances with 12 starts.  Hit his first career home run against Florida A&M during the MEAC Tournament (May 20).  Had his best game against Delaware State (May 19) in the conference tournament, where he went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.  Knocked in five RBI and touched home six times, and collected nine hits with four walks.  Had a multi-RBI game against Niagara (Feb. 28) where he went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored on his first career home run.

2015: Redshirted

2014:  Played in 37 games, starting in 33 as a freshman.  Finished his rookie year batting .257 with 18 RBI.  Batted .290 in conference play.  Sixth on the team with seven doubles and was second on the roster with two triples.  Racked up eight multi-hit games to finish sixth on the squad and was seventh with three multi-RBI games.  Hit his first career three-bagger in the series finale against Bethune-Cookman where he went 2-for-4 with a RBI in the comeback win over the Wildcats.  His other triple came in on the road at Florida A&M. Recorded his first hit as an Eagle on Feb. 22 against Niagara.  Went 3-for-8 with a run scored, three RBI and his first career double in that Feb. 22 doubleheader against the Purple Eagles.  Had a six-game hitting streak from March 2 to March 11 that saw his batting average hover over .300.  Went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI against SWAC power Alabama State.  Went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBI and a stolen base in the sweep-clinching victory over arch-rival NC A&T.

High School (North Pitt H.S.):  Received the Daily Reflector’s 2011 Baseball Hitter of the Year award. Batted .471 with five home runs, 32 RBIs, 41 hits, 40 scored runs, and stole 14 bases as a junior. Holds North Pitt homerun record (5).  Made Eastern Plains All-Conference team all four years.   Back-to-back conference champions (2012, 2013).

Personal: Born May 24, 1995 in Greenville, North Carolina. Parents are Gwendolyn and Kelvin Battle.  He has one brother named Kelvon and one sister named Whitney.   Major at NCCU is Business Management.
