Biography

2017:  Made three appearances with one start before redshirting.

2016:  Preseason and postseason First Team All-MEAC selection.  Made 49 appearances – all starts – and batted .305 with a team-high slugging percentage of .542, good for fifth in the MEAC.  Also led the club in RBI with 42, tied for fifth in the MEAC.  Earned MEAC Player of the Week Honors (Feb. 29) after a strong four-game series against Niagara where he hit two home runs with two doubles and a triple for nine RBI.  Had his best game of the season against Virginia State (April 6) where he hit two home runs, a three-run shot and a grand slam for seven RBI, the second most in a single game in the modern era.  Carried a 16-game hit streak early in the season, and had 16 multi-hit games.  Finished in the top-10 in the league in triples with three, and total bases with 96 as well.  Collected 54 total hits, with nine doubles, and an on base percentage of .405.

2015:  Named to preseason and postseason All-MEAC First Team and First Team All-MEAC by College Sports Madness.  Became first Eagle to hit double-digit home runs in the modern era at NCCU with 11 to lead the team and conference, and broke the single-season record for most total bases with 96.  Batted .308 with an on base percentage of .368 and slugging percentage of .558.  Drove in 35 RBI and 28 runs scored.  Recorded 106 putouts to lead all outfielders, with four outfield assists.  Had a 13 game hitting streak from March 18-April 4 and an eight game hitting streak April 8-21.  Homered twice in a day two times in doubleheaders against Virginia State (April 1) and Savannah State (April 18), and hit a home run in both following games for three-game home run streaks.  Went 2-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored at North Carolina A&T (April 3).  Homered twice in a game against Presbyterian (May 5) going 4-for-5 with a double, three RBI and three runs scored.  

2014:  Named MEAC Rookie of the Year (first in NCCU’s modern era), earned Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American honors and NCCSIA (North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association) All-State First Team recognition.  Also placed on the second team All-MEAC Roster.  Earned MEAC Rookie of the Week honors two times (April 28 and Feb. 26).  Played in 45 games, starting 41.  Ended the year hitting .321 that included an astounding .392 in MEAC play.  Had an on-base percentage of .404 and a slugging percentage of .478.  Started his career with a four-game hitting streak (9-for-19) with five runs scored and two RBI.  Hit a two-run home run in his first at-bat as an Eagle.  Recorded five doubles, a triple, and was second on the team with six home runs.  Was fourth on the roster with both 16 multi-hit games and multi-RBI games with six that included two four RBI games.  His first four RBI game took place on April 2 against Virginia State going 2-for-4 with a double, and a run scored.  The second came on April 27 in the comeback victory against Florida A&M with a 4-for-5 effort with two home runs with three runs scored.  Went 7-for-12 (.583 BA) with three home runs and six runs scored.  On May 10 went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, and an RBI.  Went 3-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored, and two RBI in his debut on Feb. 17 against Canisius.  On April 12-13 went 6-for-12 (.500 BA) in a crucial series against Bethune-Cookman with a home run, a double and four RBI.  In the three-game sweep of NC A&T went 5-for-11 (.454 BA) with a double, two runs scored, and two RBI.  Went 2-for-3 with his first career triple, two runs scored, and an RBI in the 10-5 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore.

High School (Lincoln West H.S.):  Hit .547 with 23 runs and 23 hits over 42 at bats. Voted team captain and team’s Most Valuable Player.  Lead Wolverines to championship game all four years, winning two.  Threw a one-hitter in the 2013 Senate Athletic League baseball championship game. 2013 Greater Cleveland Baseball Coaches Association All-star Game participate. 2013 Plain Dealer High School All-Star Baseball Team nominee. Member of the National Honors Society and school Honor Roll.
