DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central men's and women's golf teams will compete in the Thomas W. Dortch Jr. HBCU Collegiate Golf Classic at Bear's Best Golf Course in Suwanee, Ga., on Monday at 9 a.m. and Tuesday at 8 a.m.
The tournament marks the season debut for the Eagles' men while the women will be playing in their second tournament.
PARTICIPANTS
In the men's division, the Eagles will play against Southern, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Chicago State, Alabama State and Jackson State.
In the women's division, NCCU will face Delaware State, Southern, Texas Southern, Fisk, Chicago State, Jackson State and South Carolina State.

ABOUT NCCU
- The NCCU men's tournament lineup consists of Jamal Hutchison, Iszac Bertagnole, Hershal Patel, Nico Tucker and Christian Fisher.
- Hutchison leads seven returnees on the NCCU men's squad. The senior golfer played in the U.S. Amateur in August after qualifying for the event. He holds the NCCU golf program record for best season scoring average at 72.9.
- Bertagnole returns to the lineup after completing a two-year church mission. A talented golfer, Bertagnole was named 2024 NEC Golf Rookie of the Year after tying for third in the NEC Men's Championship. He was the first NCCU men's golfer to earn All-NEC honors.
- The NCCU women's tournament lineup features Sanaa Carter, Cailynn Winford, Tylah James, Mya Smith and Josefina Rendo.
- Carter and Winford both finished among the top 25 golfers in the season-opening Elon Invitational last week. Carter fired a 220 to tie for 11th, including a one-under par 70 in the second round. Winford carded a 225 to tie for 25th, including a one-over par 72 in the first round.
- Last season, the NCCU women placed second and the Eagles' men were third in the Thomas W. Dortch Jr. HBCU Collegiate Golf Classic on Sept. 22-23. Hutchison tied for second in the men's standings while Carter was third in the women's standings.
- A total of 30 Division I men's golfers and 38 women's golfers are expected to tee off in the two-day tournament.
