Eagles Host Radford, Travel To Winthrop Invitational

DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central returns home Tuesday to host Radford in volleyball before heading to Rock Hill, S.C., for the Winthrop Invitational on Saturday.

The Eagles will take on Radford at 6 p.m. inside McDougald-McLendon Arena, then play two matches in the Winthrop Invitational. They face UNC Wilmington at noon and host Winthrop at 6 p.m. at the Winthrop Coliseum.

RECORDS
NCCU enters Tuesday's match with a 2-6 overall mark while Radford is 2-8. UNC Wilmington begins the week 4-6 and Winthrop is 2-5.

ABOUT NCCU
  • The Eagles are familiar with all three opponents, having defeated both Radford and UNCW on the road by identical 3-1 scores in 2025. The victories were the first against both teams as a Division I program. NCCU is 1-4 versus UNCW since 2010 and 1-6 versus Radford since 2000 but is seeking its second straight win against both teams.
  • NCCU has not beaten Winthrop in eight tries since 2008, although both teams have not met since 2016. The Eagles last competed in a tournament hosted by Winthrop in 2008 and 2009, when they played in the Hilton Garden Inn Invitational/Classic.
  • Breylan Fairley amassed a season-high 36 assists against UNC Greensboro on Sept. 12. Shalyn Bell recorded double-digit kills in the last two matches, including a season-high tying 13 kills at UNC Greensboro. She has led or tied for the team lead in kills the last three matches. Allyson Rouse has totaled six or more blocks in three matches this season.
  • In MEAC statistics, Talia Emmen ranks fourth (2.71) and Bell is tied for fifth (2.69) in kills per set. Rouse ranks second (.358), Morgan Wingo is seventh (.274) and Aniah Bass is ninth (.229) in hitting percentage.
  • Fairley leads the MEAC in service aces per set (0.59) and ranks fourth (5.90) in assists per set. Rouse ranks 10th (0.86) in blocks per set while Emmen (2.42) and Bell (2.35) are eighth and 10th, respectively, in digs per set. Bell is fifth (3.06) and Emmen ranks sixth (3.04) in points per set.
  • Paige Bennett of Winthrop leads the Big South Conference in kills per set (4.13) and points per set (4.58). Teammate Lexi Thatcher is the league assist leader (9.57 per set).
  • Taryn Roberts leads Radford in kills per set (2.70). Lea Gage ranks fifth in the Big South in assists per set (7.29).
  • Nadia Wasilewski leads UNCW in kills per set (2.14) and Gaby Zovko ranks third in the CAA in assists per set (7.40). Courtney Graham is tied for third in the conference in blocks per set (1.21).
