DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central opens its 2026 fall women's golf season at the Elon Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at the Alamance Country Club in Burlington, N.C. Tee times are 8:30 a.m. with shotgun starts both days.
The tournament is a 54-hole format with the golfers playing 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday on the par 71, 6,225-yard course. An awards ceremony will be held after the tournament's completion.
PARTICIPANTS
The Eagles will compete against The Citadel, Coppin State, host Elon, Howard, North Carolina A&T, Presbyterian, Queens, South Carolina State, Tennessee Tech, USC Upstate, Western Carolina, William & Mary, Winthrop and Wofford.

- Kendall Wallace enters his third season as the Eagles' head women's golf coach. His five-player roster features sophomore standout Sanaa Carter, named HBCU National Women's Golfer of the Year by the Black College Golf Coaches Association (BCGCA). Carter was also selected to the BCGCA HBCU All-America and All-Freshman teams as well as the All-Northeast Conference (NEC) and NEC All-Tournament teams. She finished second – the highest for an Eagles' golfer – at the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship.
- Carter is one of four returnees on an Eagles' team that finished a program-record third at the 2026 NEC Championship. Both Mya Smith and Cailynn Winford earned NEC Prime Performers weekly honors and Josefina Rendo is expected to play a bigger role after competing in two matches last year. Tylah James is a promising transfer from Dalton State.
- The Elon Invitational is the first of five matches on the Eagles' fall schedule. NCCU will play in the Thomas W. Dortch Jr. HBCU Classic on Sept. 21-22, the Powercat Classic on Sept. 28-29, the SAS Championship HBCU Invitational on Oct. 17-18 and the Fripp Island Intercollegiate on Oct. 24-25.
- NCCU will compete as a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference member starting this season.
