DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University Director of Athletics Dr. Louis "Skip" Perkins will serve as First Vice President of the Football Championship Subdivision Athletic Directors Association (FCS ADA) for the 2026-27 year.

Perkins is entering his fourth season at the helm at NCCU, where he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees. Previously, Perkins has served on the FCS ADA Executive Committee.

"I'm honored to serve as FCS ADA 1st vice president in the coming academic year," Perkins said. "This is a dynamic time in college athletics, and FCS has never been stronger. I remain committed to providing student-athletes with opportunities on the field and in the classroom – shaping them into successful men and women who are a credit to North Carolina Central University."

A dynamic leader in higher education with more than two decades of experience in intercollegiate athletics and institutional advancement, Perkins has served as Director of Athletics at four different NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) institutions, with teams capturing 12 conference championships during his tenure.

Those include the football team's 2022 championship, its first since 2016, and the softball program notching its first-ever MEAC title in 2023.

In addition to the athletic success, the Eagles have achieved record academic success the past two academic years. After recording a department cumulative GPA of 3.22 for the spring 2024 semester, that GPA jumped to 3.30 following the conclusion of the spring 2025 semester.

Following the 2024-25 academic year, 75% of Eagle student-athletes held a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

Sherryta Freeman from Lafayette College was named FCS ADA president, while North Dakota's Bill Chaves and Tennessee Chattanooga's Mark Wharton will serve as 2nd and 3rd vice president, respectively.
