CARY, N.C. – Kristin Corner drove in North Carolina Central's only run as the Eagles dropped a doubleheader to Western Carolina at Thomas Brooks Park on Tuesday. The final scores were 20-1 in five innings in the opener and 8-0 in six innings in the second game.
Corner smacked an RBI single in the first game to score
Mia De La Fuente in the fourth inning. De La Fuente led off with a single and reached second base on a sacrifice bunt by
Hannah McGonigle.
Corner and
Tyler Suttles each batted 2 for 2 to pace the Eagles in the first game. De Le Fuente was 1 for 2 and
Daiyah Bailey doubled while Suttles collected a stolen base.
In the second game, Bailey was 2 for 3 while
Kendal Daniels, McGonigle and
Avrelle Harrell each tallied a hit for the Eagles (7-38 overall).
Western Carolina upped its overall record to 32-17.
NEXT UP
The Eagles will conclude the regular season this weekend with a key three-game MEAC series against South Carolina State at Thomas Brooks Park. The series begins Saturday with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and approximately 3 p.m.
