NORFOLK, Va. – Kelechi Okworogwo of the North Carolina Central men's basketball team has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week following his standout performance at Delaware State on Feb. 28.
The Bronx, N.Y., native was perfect from the field against the Hornets, going 6-for-6 for 15 points. Okworogwo also pulled down 10 rebounds to record his first double-double of the season.
In addition, Okworogwo tallied three blocks and one steal for the Eagles. The senior is tied for first in the conference in blocks per game (1.4) and ranks among the top 10 in rebounding (5.3).
Okworogwo and NC Central return to action tonight, March 2, at Maryland Eastern Shore. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Hytche Center.
