NORFOLK, Va. - North Carolina Central catcher Mia De La Fuente was named MEAC Softball Rookie of the Week on Monday, Feb. 9.

De La Fuente was perfect behind the plate during the NFCA Leadoff Classic this past weekend. She totaled 13 putouts and one assist with no errors in three games including a matchup against Power Four program Pittsburgh. The Fontana, Calif., native was a designated player in two other contests.

De La Fuente and her NCCU teammates will compete in the HBCU Collegiate Invitational this weekend. The Eagles open against Alcorn State on Friday, Feb. 13, at 10 a.m. in Covington, Ga.
