ASHEVILLE, N.C. – North Carolina Central men's tennis dropped a narrow 4-3 road decision to UNC Asheville on Saturday afternoon.
NCCU (3-5) claimed one doubles match, as Naresh Bharathy and Antoni Pankowski earned a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles. However, UNC Asheville carried a 1-0 lead into singles play.
Pankowski tied the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles. Rodrigo Alves and Santiago Pinna helped the Eagles take and extend the lead with straight-set victories at the No. 2 and No. 6 positions, respectively.
The Bulldogs (4-4) responded by winning the remaining three singles matches to secure the overall victory.
Next, NCCU travels to Orlando, Fla. for Spring Break competition. The Eagles will face four opponents, beginning with Hampton on March 8 at 11 a.m.
