COVINGTON, Ga. – North Carolina Central rallied in the latter stages against Alcorn State before falling 4-2 on the first day of the HBCU Collegiate Invitational at Turner Lake Complex on Friday.
In their second game, the Eagles fell to Texas Southern 9-1 in five innings.
Tyler Suttles drove in two of NCCU's three runs on 3 of 5 hitting in two games. Her two-run double to right field tied Alcorn State 2-2 in the fifth inning, scoring
Elana Krupey and
Isabella Slape.
Alcorn State, capitalizing on an NCCU error, scored two runs in the seven inning which decided the outcome. The Eagles connected on seven hits and Alcorn State totaled 10 hits.
Daiyah Bailey also was 3 of 5 on the day and
Adriana Person was 1 of 2 at the plate with a double and one run scored in two games combined. Person crossed the plate against Texas Southern on an outfield error for the Eagles' only run.
