DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central volleyball team looks to extend its 22-match winning streak against South Carolina State when the two teams clash at McDougald-McLendon Arena on Friday at 6 p.m.
The contest will be streamed on the MEAC Network.
The Eagles (2-4 MEAC, 4-13 overall) have dominated the season series in recent years, winning 22 consecutive matches against the Lady Bulldogs, including 11 straight at home. They are 30-9 overall in their head-to-head meetings since 2007. NCCU's last loss to South Carolina State (0-6 MEAC, 4-17 overall) came in 2015, when the Lady Bulldogs swept the home-and-home series.
Since then, the Eagles have been unbeatable in the series with 19 of their 22 wins by 3-0 scores including both matches last season.
Another victory on Friday would snap a three-match losing skid for the Eagles, who are tied for second in the MEAC with a .196 hitting percentage. The Lady Bulldogs rank eighth in the MEAC at .111.
NCCU's
Talia Emmen (3.36) and
Shalyn Bell (3.02) rank third and fourth, respectively, in the MEAC in kills per set while
