Eagles Fall on the Road to Old Dominion

NORFOLK, Va. The North Carolina Central University football team lost its first true road game of the season on Saturday evening, as Old Dominion came away with a 54-6 win at S.B. Ballard Stadium.

The Eagles fall to 1-2 on the season.

ODU (1-1) scored the game's first 16 points, including a safety to open the scoring, before the Eagles got on the board to close out the first half. Kaleb Robison kicked a 39-yard field goal to cut the lead to 16-3 as the teams headed to the locker room.

That boot for Robison was his career best.

The Monarchs came out of the halftime break on a tear, scoring 28 unanswered points in the third quarter to take a 44-3 lead after Colton Joseph hit TJ Lott from 34 yards out with 2:24 left in the quarter.

Robison kicked his second field goal of the night with 13 seconds left in the third, splitting the uprights from 27 yards out.

The Monarchs tacked on 10 more points in the fourth quarter.

ODU held the Eagles to just 224 yards of total offense on the night and 14 first downs. NCCU turned the ball over three times.

The Eagles will be back at O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium on Saturday, when they play host to Fayetteville State. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m., and the game will air live on ESPN+.
