NCCU Volleyball Starts Week With Two Road Matches

DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central will play two road volleyball matches in three days when the Eagles visit Radford on Monday (Sept. 22) and Elon on Wednesday (Sept. 24). Both matches will start at 6 p.m., and the Radford match will be livestreamed on ESPN+.

The road trips begin a stretch of five matches in nine days for the Eagles, who are 2-7 overall. They host Delaware State on Sept. 26 and Maryland Eastern Shore on Sept. 28 in home-opening MEAC contests and travel to Charleston Southern on Sept. 30.

NCCU vs. RADFORD
  • The site of the match is the Dedmon Center in Radford, Va.
  • The Eagles have met the Highlanders six times with Radford winning all six matches. The last time both teams faced each other was 2014 with Radford winning 3-0.
  • Radford is 3-9 overall after competing in the Virginia Tech Tournament this past week. The Highlanders lost to Middle Tennessee in four sets but bounced back to beat Virginia Tech 3-0.
NCCU vs. ELON
  • The match will be livestreamed on FloCollege at the Schar Center in Elon, N.C.
  • The Eagles are seeking their first victory against the Phoenix in the 21st meeting between both teams. Their last matchup was 2024 when Elon outlasted visiting NCCU in five sets.
  • Elon upped its record to 3-8 overall after topping Hampton twice in two days last week by 3-0 scores.

  • The matches against Radford and Elon will conclude a seven-game road stretch for the Eagles.
  • In their last outing, the Eagles fell at UNC Asheville in four sets on Sept. 16. Kamren Harper tallied 13 kills and Manuela Cripa Nasser amassed 33 assists. Loren Johnson and Gabriela Felix-Baeza each had 12 digs and Allyson Rouse collected five total blocks.
  • NCCU leads the MEAC in digs per set (15.61) and is third in kills per set (11.77).
  • Harper ranks second in the MEAC in kills per set (3.68) and third in points per set (3.94). Leanna Beaty ranks fifth in hitting percentage (.287).
  • Cripa Nasser ranks second in the MEAC in assists per set (9.03) and fifth in digs per set (2.65).
  • Allyson Rouse ranks third in the MEAC in blocks per set (0.87).
  • Johnson ranks third in the MEAC in digs per set (4.00) and Neira Joldic is tied for ninth in digs per set (2.30).
