WILMINGTON, N.C. – North Carolina Central was competitive in three-set losses to Virginia Tech and Lindenwood in the season-opening Seahawk Classic at Hanover Hall on Friday.
Kamren Harper led the Eagles with 12 kills against Virginia Tech while
Madi Disu and
Allyson Rouse chipped in seven kills and six kills, respectively.
Manuela Cripa Nasser finished with 28 assists, 10 digs and three service aces while
Loren Johnson added 13 digs. Rouse totaled two blocks.
Harper collected nine kills and
Leanna Beaty added seven kills versus Lindenwood. Cripa Nasser amassed 25 assists and
Loren Johnson tallied nine digs.
Amarah Johnson and Rouse each had two blocks.
NCCU is now 0-2 overall after Friday's matches. The Eagles take on host UNC Wilmington in the Seahawk Classic on Saturday at 2 p.m.

NCCU VS. VIRGINIA TECH
The Eagles showed potential in the three-set loss (18-25, 30-32, 26-28) to the ACC school. After a slow start in the first set, NCCU took charge in the final two sets before Virginia Tech rallied both times. The Eagles led 19-13 in the second set and 19-15 in the third set.
NCCU VS. LINDENWOOD
The Eagles showed effort against Lindenwood in the three-set defeat (21-25, 20-25, 18-25). The first set was tied 16-16 and the Eagles only trailed 18-16 in the second set. Lindenwood pulled away in both sets before taking the third set.
