NCCU Softball Inks Three Signees

DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central softball program is already gearing up for the 2026 season by adding three signees to the roster.

The trio of Mia De La Fuente, Kendal Daniels and Aaliyah Davis will join the Eagles in the fall after completing their stellar high school careers. The trio from the state of California are expected to bolster an Eagles' squad which advanced to the MEAC Championship Tournament last month under first-year Head Coach Now-Allah James.

Below is a brief bio of each incoming freshman with comments from Coach James.

 Mia De La Fuente
Mia De La Fuente (catcher/first baseman)
De La Fuente was a first team and second team All-League player at Aquinas High School in San Bernardino, Calif. This past season, De La Fuente was fourth on the team with 25 hits and batted .333 in 26 games in helping Aquinas win the league title. During her prep career, she garnered freshman of the year honors and captured MVP of the Redlands Tournament. As a junior, De La Fuente drove in 26 runs on a 28-1 team that won their league with an unbeaten record (12-0).

A National Honors Society member, De La Fuente has posted a 4.0 grade point average and above since sixth grade.

Coach James - "Mia has great knowledge of the game. She has a strong arm and communicates well with the pitching staff. She is an outstanding student of the game and in the classroom who will make a huge impact at the plate as a power hitter."

Kendal Daniels
Kendal Daniels (outfielder)
Daniels was a key player her senior season at Etiwanda High School out of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. She batted .400 with seven RBIs, seven runs scored, one double and one home run in 21 games on a 23-4 squad that placed second in the league standings and reached the CIF Southern Section Division 1 quarterfinals. As a junior, Daniels was part of the Etiwanda team that won the CIF SoCal Division II regional crown. Daniels made an immediate impact as freshman at Montclair (Calif.) High School, leading the team in home runs (6) and ranking third in RBIs (27) while batting .350 in 21 games.

Honored as a league scholar-athlete, Daniels was on the Principal's Honor Roll all four years in high school. She was selected to represent both Montclair and Etiwanda high schools on the San Bernadino Student Advisory Panel and received certificates of recognition and excellence from several city, county and state leaders including the State of California Senate.

Coach James - "A tremendous outfielder with great range. Kendal is a switch hitter with power from the right side and a triple threat from the left side. She will be a tremendous addition to our outfield."

Aaliyah Davis
Aaliyah Davis (middle infielder)

Davis was a standout at Kaiser High School in Fontana, Calif., where she was an all-league stalwart and defensive player of the year. As a prep senior, Davis ranked second on the team in RBIs (14), doubles (8) and home runs (2) and third in runs scored (12) in 20 games. A five-time athlete of the week winner, Davis finished with three RBIs, one home run and two runs scored on 2-for-3 hitting in Kaiser's 14-1 CIF Southern Section Division V playoff victory over Santiago in mid-May before falling in the second round.

In the classroom, Davis had well over a 3.0 grade point average at Kaiser.

Coach James - "A power hitting shortstop with a strong arm. Aaliyah covers a lot of ground in the infield. She is a tremendous defensive player and will have an immediate impact in the infield."
