DURHAM, N.C. – No. 5 seed North Carolina Central begins postseason play on Wednesday, May 7, against No. 4 seed Morgan State in the MEAC Softball Championship at NSU Softball Field in Norfolk, Va. The tournament runs from May 7 to May 10.

The Eagles (13-31 overall), seeking their second MEAC title in three years, open against a Morgan State team that won the regular-season series 2-1 in early April at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, N.C. Wednesday's first pitch is at 2 p.m. with the winner advancing to play top-seed Howard later in the day at 8 p.m. The loser drops to the elimination bracket for a 2 p.m. game on Thursday.

NCCU is led by pitcher Jaden Davis, who leads the MEAC in pitching wins (12) and strikeouts (118). She ranks 82^nd in the country in strikeouts, and her 1.64 earned run average in league contests ranks third in the MEAC.

Makiya Graves (.353) and Tyler Suttles (.339) are the Eagles' top hitters, both ranking in the league's top 10 in batting average. Graves ranks third the MEAC in RBIs (26) and is tied for fourth with Suttles and three other batters in triples (4).

Victoria Fletcher paces Morgan State (17-27 overall) as a pitcher and batter. She is sixth in the MEAC with a 2.30 ERA in conference games, and her seven league wins trail only Davis' nine victories. Overall, Fletcher has accumulated 19 RBIs which ranks 10^th in the MEAC.
