James Earns MEAC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week Honors

NORFOLK, Va. – After competing in four different events at the VertKlasse Meetings and finishing in the top-10 in each, Cashmere James of North Carolina Central's men's track & field team was named the MEAC Track Athlete of the Week, announced on Wednesday.

James' highest finish came in the men's 400m, winning the event in 46.59 seconds for a new personal record. The freshman collected two more personal records, including his 100m performance (10.56) and third-place finish in the 200m race in 20.92 seconds.

The Wilmington, N.C. native finished sixth in the 100m event and helped the Eagles earn ninth in the 4x100 relay. James' performance gave him the fifth-best time in the Southeast Region in the 400m and sits 13th in the 200m.

NCCU's track & field teams will travel to the nearby Duke Invitational on April 10-12 at Morris Williams Stadium.
