DURHAM, N.C. – Hot-hitting North Carolina Central squares off against the dominant pitching of Morgan State in a MEAC three-game softball series at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, N.C., this weekend.

The Eagles (7-26, 4-5 MEAC) boast a .301 batting average in conference games heading into the series. They rank second in the MEAC in that category. Morgan State (11-19, 7-2 MEAC) leads the MEAC with a 1.17 earned run average (ERA) in league games.
Tyler Suttles and
Takia Nichols lead the Eagles offensively in MEAC games. Suttles bats .483 with nine RBIs and Nichols hits .440 with eight RBIs and a league-leading two home runs.
Daiyah Bailey has scored nine runs which ties a league high and
Makiya Graves has scored eight runs in MEAC play.
Morgan State is led by the pitching of Victoria Fletcher and Serena Rodriguez. Fletcher is 3-1 on the mound and leads the MEAC with a 0.87 ERA in league games. Rodriguez (4-1) has a 1.57 ERA.
Cassie White and Gianna Ettore provides offense for Morgan State. White bats .444 and Ettore leads the conference with 12 RBIs in MEAC games. Amber Rivas is tied with Bailey of NCCU for the league lead in runs scored.
The Eagles have their own ace pitcher in
Jaden Davis, who is 4-2 with a 2.01 ERA in conference games. Both Davis and Fletcher are among the top three strikeout leaders in the MEAC overall.
NCCU enters the matchup having won two of three games in each of their last two series. Last weekend, NCCU captured the season series over Coppin State on the road, winning 6-2 and 10-0 and falling 15-3.
Towson defeated Morgan State 4-3 at home on Wednesday to snap the Bears' six-game win streak, all against MEAC opponents.
