NORFOLK, Va. – North Carolina Central infielder Makiya Graves was selected MEAC Softball Player of the Week on Monday, March 24.

Graves led the Eagles with a .533 batting average in four games last week. She batted 8 of 15 at the plate with three doubles, a home run, eight RBIs and four runs scored.

A Mebane, N.C., native, Graves amassed a career-high five RBIs on 3 of 4 hitting with a home run and double in a 14-10 road loss to East Carolina. She scored two runs against the Pirates.

Graves continued her torrid hitting over the weekend for the Eagles, who won two of three games against Norfolk State in Cary, N.C. She was 2 of 4 with a double, two RBIs and one run scored in a 6-2 victory in the first game. The NCCU junior finished 2 of 4 with a double and one RBI in a 10-3 loss in the second game.

On Sunday, Graves scored on a bases-loaded walk in the sixth inning for a 2-1 victory. She batted 1 of 3 with one run scored.

For the season, Graves is tied for fifth (.347) in batting average in the MEAC. She is tied for second in hits (25), tied for third in RBIs (14) and tied for ninth in runs scored (10).
