FARMVILLE, Va. - North Carolina Central tallied eight hits combined in softball doubleheader losses to Longwood at Lancer Field on Sunday. The scores were 10-0 in the first game and 8-0 in the second game.
Tyler Suttles collected two hits for the Eagles (1-9 overall) including a triple in the second game. She was one of seven Eagles who recorded a hit including Janea Hudson, Sydney Jones, Nyla Rodgers, Kia Borum, Cameron Frye and Codi Mann.
Longwood (4-6 overall) relied on one big inning to win the second game. NCCU pitchers Hudson and Simone Mack limited Longwood to six hits but the Lancers scored six runs in the second inning to open a seven-run lead. The Eagles had five hits in the second game.
The Eagles are on the road again this weekend. They take on Campbell in a three-game series in Buies Creek, N.C. The first game is Friday, March 28, at 5 p.m. followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, March 1, beginning at noon.
NCCU has yet to play a home game this season.
