DURHAM, N.C. – Another full weekend is on tap for the North Carolina Central softball team as the Eagles prepare for the HBCU Collegiate Invitational set for Feb. 14-16 in Covington, Ga.
Sixteen teams will converge at Turner Lake Softball Complex for three days of softball. The Eagles (0-4) will play five opponents during the weekend. On Friday, they face Southern at 2 p.m. and Alcorn State at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the Eagles play Prairie View A&M at 12 p.m. and Florida A&M at 4 p.m. On Sunday, the opponent is Grambling State at 10 a.m.
Southern is 0-5 overall entering the invitational. Alcorn State is 2-2 and Florida A&M is 0-4. Grambling State's record is 1-3 and Prairie View A&M is 1-4. Go to hbcusoftballinvitational.com for full schedule, results and ticket prices.

The Eagles are coming off a four-game, three-day stretch at the Elon Classic in Elon, N.C. last weekend. Outfielder
Kendall Smith batted .400 with four hits, two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored in the classic. Outfielder
Daiyah Bailey scored three runs while outfielder
Tyler Suttles and catcher
Kristin Corner each scored two runs.
Makiya Graves had two RBIs and a double on three hits. Defensively, she recorded six putouts, six assists and no errors at shortstop.
After the HBCU Collegiate Invitational, the Eagles will visit nemesis North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C., on Feb. 19.
