Eagles Fall To Howard On The Road

WASHINGTON, D.C. – North Carolina Central fell to Howard in three sets (15-25, 23-25, 11-25) in a MEAC volleyball match at Burr Gymnasium on Friday.

The Eagles remain in a three-way tie for fourth place with the loss. The defeat snapped a three-match win streak and kept them winless against Howard since 2008, a stretch of 17 matches. Howard stays tied for second in the MEAC.

Kamren Harper led the Eagles with nine kills and Manuela Cripa Nasser registered 18 assists and six digs. Loren Johnson tallied nine digs while Tayah Little, Makenzi Searcy and Allyson Rouse combined for 13 kills.

After losing the first set 25-15, the Eagles were close to tying the match in the second set. The score was knotted at 16-16, 18-18 and 19-19 before Howard went on a brief run.

The Bison led 24-21 but consecutive kills by Little and Rouse closed the score to 24-23. Howard, however, secured the set-winning kill to go up 2-0 in the match.

The second set drained the Eagles, who fell 25-11 in the third set.
