RALEIGH, N.C. – In the 2025-26 season opener, the North Carolina Central men's basketball team fell 114-66 to NC State at the Lenovo Center on Monday evening. Khouri Carvey and Gage Lattimore led the charge with double-figure scoring.
Carvey scored the first points this season for the Eagles, ending an 8-0 start for the Wolfpack.
NC Central would keep the game in distance until NC State started knocking down shots from beyond the arc. The Wolfpack shot 8-of-17 from three-point land and went on a 13-0 run in the first half.
The Eagles were down by 28 points at the half, trailing 54-26. Carvey was a perfect 5-of-5 through the first 20 minutes, leading NCCU with 12 points. Lattimore followed behind with seven.
The Wolfpack continued shooting well, as Paul McNeil Jr. went 4-of-5 from three in the second half. NC State finished at 56.3 percent from beyond the arc, taking advantage of second chance points on 14 offensive rebounds.
Lattimore stepped up in the second half, netting 13 points. He finished with a game high 20 points, going a perfect 8-of-8 from the charity stripe.
Carvey was two rebounds short of a double-double along with 19 points on an efficient 6-of-8 shooting from the field.
Seven NC State players finished in double-figures, led by Darrion Williams with 19.
NCCU travels to Virginia on Friday, Nov. 7 for a 7 p.m. tip in Charlottesville.
