Series History: NC State leads the series 4-1. In the last meeting with the Wolfpack, the Eagles took NC State to overtime at PNC Arena (now Lenovo Center), winning 82-72. This was NCCU's first win over an ACC team in the Division I era, and the last game between the two until this season. The Eagles went to their first-ever NCAA Tournament later that year.

- Head coach LeVelle Moton enters his 17th season at the helm of the NCCU men's basketball team. He also spent two years as an assistant before leading the program.
- The 2025-26 season will be the 93rd in NC Central's history. Over the years, the team has been spearheaded by Eagle legends such as John McLendon, Floyd Brown and 1989 NCAA Division II National Champion coach Michael Bernard.
- Coach Moton finished 12 of his 16 seasons with a .500 record or above.
- The Eagles face two more ACC opponents during non-conference play (North Carolina and Virginia).
- NC State returns only two players from last season, while NC Central returns five.
T.N.T. – Ten New Transfers: NC Central welcomes 10 new Eagles to the team; all are transfers ranging from D-I to NJCAA.
The MEAC Minute: NCCU was picked to finish tied for fifth alongside Delaware State in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference preseason poll, voted on by head coaches and sports information directors.
DJ's Mixtape: Dionte Johnson returns as the Eagles' only starter from last season. Johnson averaged 5.6 points, 3.4 assists, 2.4 rebounds, shooting 41 percent from the field. He is the only Eagle on a preseason MEAC All-Conference list, voted to the Second Team.
