DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central celebrated Senior Day with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-13) volleyball sweep over South Carolina State in the regular-season finale at McDougald-McLendon Arena on Saturday.
Kamren Harper paced the Eagles with 21 kills and 11 digs for her 16
th career double-double including her ninth this season.
Makenzi Searcy added nine kills,
Tayah Little contributed seven kills and
Manuela Cripa Nasser handed out 36 assists.
Defensively,
Loren Johnson accumulated 19 digs and
Neira Joldic added 16 digs while
Allyson Rouse totaled six kills, three solo blocks and one block assist.
The victory moved the Eagles into a three-way tie for fourth in the MEAC standings heading into the conference tournament next weekend in Baltimore, Md. They also reached their second 10-win season since joining the MEAC in 2011 and earned their second non-losing conference mark (7-7) since the league did away with divisions in 2021.
Before the match, ten players were honored on Senior Day. The seniors were
Amarah Johnson,
Jaelyn Hall,
Summer Campbell and
Gabriela Felix-Baeza in addition to Joldic, Little, Harper, Searcy,
Loren Johnson and Cripa Nasser.
Each senior saw action and contributed to the victory, the 22
nd in a row over the Bulldogs. After a tight victory in the first set, the Eagles breezed past the visitors in the second and third sets. Campbell finished off South Carolina State with a third-set kill that ended the match.
NCCU dominated statistically, recording more points (61-32), kills (48-24), service aces (8-4), blocks (5-4), assists (45-20) and digs (64-49). The Eagles outhit the Bulldogs .328 percent to .104 percent.
