Eight Victories Highlight NCCU’s Performance at Flat Is Fast Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University men's and women's track & field teams wrapped up the Flat is Fast Invitational at the JDL Fast Track on Sunday with eight top finishes.

Freshman Zion Amadi had an eventful outing competing in the men's 200m seeded race, 400m seeded race and 4x400m relay. Amadi brought home the gold in the first two races with two new personal bests. In the 200m, Amadi ran 22.11 followed by a time of 50.01 in the 400m.  

Melanne Sutton finished first for the second time this season in the women's 60m. Her time of 7.49 is a new personal record. The sophomore also finished first in the women's 200m seeded race (25.58).

Laila Jackson and T'Sheylah Moore each earned individual victories along with a women's 4x400m relay triumph. The duo teamed up with Gianna Marquez and Nyree Bacchus running a time of 3:56.20 for the win.

Jackson also won the women's 600m (1:35.27 – new personal record) and Moore was victorious in the women's 400m seeded race (57.54).

The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week, Sa'Niya Fowler, earned first in the women's weight throw (16.43m). She also took second in the women's shot put event (13.62m).

The Eagles conclude the regular season next meet at the Liberty Open on Feb. 7-8 in Lynchburg, Va. The event will be hosted by Liberty University.
