Preview: Rested Eagles Host SC State on Saturday

DURHAM, N.C. – Ten days after their last game, the North Carolina Central University men's basketball team will host South Carolina State University on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 4 p.m. facing the Bulldogs for the first time this season. The contest will also be available to stream on ESPN+.

NCCU won its second game in a row with a 75-72 victory over Delaware State University on Jan. 13 in McDougald-McLendon Arena. There were four Eagles in double figures.

Redshirt senior Isaac Parson led the way with 19 points while senior Keishon Porter was one rebound shy of a double-double paired with 18 points. Junior Po'Boigh King and senior Timmy Adedire had 13 and 12, respectively.

Statistically, NC Central is in the top 25 in six different categories nationally. The Maroon & Gray are 13th in bench points per game (33.00), 16th in offensive rebounds per game (13.95), 17th in steals per game (9.7), 13th in turnover margin (+4.7) and ninth in fast break points (16.76). The last category is forced turnovers per game and the Eagles are currently second in the nation, causing 17.48 per game.  

Last season, the South Carolina State Bulldogs split the series with NCCU. Each team won their respective home games as SCSU triumphed 71-68 in Orangeburg, S.C. and NC Central was victorious 79-68 in the Nest. 

The Eagles lead the series 37-23 over the Bulldogs. Before last season's loss at SC State, NCCU won three straight in the head-to-head.
