CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University (2-9) volleyball team displayed impressive resilience in a 3-2 victory (36-34, 16-25, 25-18, 19-25, 16-14) against the UNC Charlotte 49ers Saturday at the Levine Center.
The Eagles were led by a double-double from Emmie Modlin, who registered 16 kills and 17 digs on the day. Kayden Cupid also added 14 kills to help the attack. Gabriela Felix-Baeza also pitched in with five in the contest. On the defensive end, Felix-Baeza chipped in with 29 digs to go with three blocks from Cupid.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Eagles came out on top of a close first set, winning 36-34 in a stanza that was tied 19 times and had 11 lead changes. NCCU's opening set win came in a stanza where 18 of their 36 points were kills. North Carolina Central also supplemented their offense with four aces in the opening set.
SET 2 | North Carolina Central then dropped set two 25-16, tying the match at a set apiece. The Eagles trailed by as many as 12 points as Charlotte grabbed the advantage for good in a set that was knotted up two times before the 49ers took over the lead.
SET 3 | NC Central put the second-set loss behind and grabbed a 2-1 match lead with a win in set three. The Eagles grabbed control of the set early when the score was 6-5 and held the lead the rest of the way to win 25-18. North Carolina Central led by eight points at 24-16 before finishing off the stanza, totaling 15 kills in the process. NCCU's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four Charlotte attacks in the stanza.
SET 4 | The Eagles couldn't finish off a four-set win as the 49ers forced a fifth set with a 25-19 victory. NCCU fell behind on the first point and fought the rest of the way before losing the set.
SET 5 | North Carolina Central and Charlotte went back and forth all game, trading set wins until the Eagles took the fifth set 16-14 ending the match. The Eagles won set five and the game despite trailing by as many as five points at 12-7 before fighting back to secure the victory. NCCU jumped in front at 15-14 and held on to take the set, totaling 11 kills along the way.
