NCCU Mourns Passing of Hall of Famer LuAnn Edmonds-Harris

North Carolina Central University graduate, 30-year employee and Athletics Hall of Fame member LuAnn Edmonds-Harris passed away on Saturday, March 2.
 
Edmonds-Harris was inducted into the NCCU Athletics Hall of Fame for meritorious service on Sept. 30, 2023. She was an NCCU employee for more than three decades, including work in admissions and with the athletics department.
 
In 2022, Edmonds-Harris announced her retirement from NCCU while holding the titles of Assistant Athletic Director for Administration and Head Cheerleading Coach. During her professional tenure at NCCU, which started in 1986, Edmonds-Harris had held titles as an Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions (1996-2008) and Admissions Counselor (1986-1996). Edmonds-Harris was NCCU's longtime volunteer cheerleading coach from the early 1990s until her retirement.  
 
Edmonds-Harris is a native of Durham, North Carolina, and graduated from North Carolina Central University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in theater arts in 1975. She was a member of the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA), NCCU Alumni Association, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
 
NCCU Director of Athletics Dr. Louis "Skip" Perkins will present an NCCU Department of Athletics Lifetime Achievement Award posthumously in recognition of her more than 30 years of exemplary service at NCCU, as a devoted leader of the cheerleading program, a faithful supporter of her colleagues, an uplifting mentor of students, a spirited ambassador of Eagle Pride, and a dedicated exemplifier of Eagle Excellence.
