ELON, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University men's and women's track and field teams had 14 top-three finishes including four victories from sophomores
Lamont Victoria,
Malcolm Forbes,
Gianna Marquez and graduate student
Laderique McNeill at the Phoenix Invitational on Friday. This was the first outdoor event for the Eagles this season and was hosted by Elon University.
McNeill (Bunnlevel, N.C.) placed in the top-three in two separate events including his first-place finish in the men's 2000m steeplechase with a time of 6:10.80. He also took home third in the men's 800m running a time of 1:57.87.
Victoria (Prince George, Va.) carried over his jumping prowess from indoor winning the men's high jump with a height of 6ft, 6.75in. Joining him in the top-three was freshman
Jonathan Raijon-Koger jumping 6ft, 0.75in for third.
Forbes (Raleigh, N.C.) was victorious in the men's triple jump with a distance of 45ft, 10.75in.
Ezra Martin was also in the top-three in the same event finishing third (45ft, 0.5in).
Marquez (Deer Park, N.Y.) handled women's 400m hurdle duties running a time of 1:06.15 to triumph in the event.
