WOMEN’S HOOPS FALL AT GEORGIA

ATHENS, Ga. - The North Carolina Central University women's basketball team dropped their season opener 96-52 on the road at the University of Georgia Monday night at Stegeman Coliseum. 

Kyla Bryant (Salisbury, N.C.), who scored 18 points and added five rebounds for the Eagles, led NC Central (0-1). Shakiria Foster (Barnesville, Ga.) contributed nine points, including making two of her four 3-pointers from beyond the arc.   

Morgan Callahan (Brach Park, Ill.) was a defensive presence for NC Central, grabbing a team-high nine rebounds. 

The third quarter proved to be a particularly bright spot for NCCUs, as they shot 53.8% from the floor and made 7-of-13 shots taken. 

Georgia (1-0) had five players score in double figures, led by Mia Woolfolk, who finished with a double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing 13 rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs. Amiya Evans also recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for Georgia. 

The Eagles will return on Thursday, November 7, when they travel to Clemson, S.C., to face the Tigers of Clemson University. The game is scheduled to tip at 7 p.m. from Littlejohn Coliseum.
