Bryant Leads Eagles in Loss to Chattnooga

DURHAM, N.C.Sophomore guard Kyla Bryant led the North Carolina Central University women's basketball team with 12 points on Monday, in the Eagles' 75-36 loss to Chattanooga in McDougald-McLendon Arena.

The Eagles are now 0-4 on the season.

Bryant hit four field goals on the afternoon, including a pair from behind the arc. Graduate forward Morgan Callahan and freshman guard Victoria Morris each grabbed a team-high seven rebounds, with Callahan also scoring eight points and blocking a shot.

Overall, it was a cold day shooting for N.C. Central, going 11-for-53 (20.8%) from the floor and 2-for-13 (15.4%) from 3-point range. Chattanooga (2-1) shot 58.8% (30-for-51) from the floor and hit nine of its 15 threes.

Chattanooga held a 37-31 edge on the glass and scored 27 points off 24 Eagle turnovers.

N.C. Central's defense turned Chattanooga over 22 times.

Gianna Corbitt led Chattanooga with 12 points.

The Eagles will hit the road on Wednesday, traveling to Charleston, S.C., to take on Charleston at 7 p.m.
