DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University volleyball team returns home to host Morgan State University (Friday, Nov. 1 at 6 p.m.) and Coppin State University (Sunday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m.) in McDougald-McLendon Arena this weekend. The Eagles look for their first victories over the Baltimore teams this season.

NC CENTRAL COURT
NCCU (5-15 Overall, 3-6 MEAC) split its last pair of matches sweeping Norfolk State University on Oct. 25 and falling to Howard University 3-0 on Oct. 27. The victory over Norfolk State marked the second this season against the Spartans. A trio of Eagles, Emmie Modlin, Tayah Little and Kamren Harper, led the attack as each finished with double-digit kills.
Harper and Gabriela Felix-Baeza are top five in the MEAC in kills per set (4th – 3.01) and total digs (4th – 245), respectively. Bella Dearinger is second in the conference in total assists (629). Nationally, the Eagles are 75th in team attacks per set (36.01), which is also first in the MEAC.
In the Division I era, NCCU leads the series 6-4 against Morgan State with the Bears snapping the Eagles' six-match winning streak in early October. Coppin State leads the series 11-5 over the Maroon and Gray winning the last six matches against the Eagles.

MORGAN STATE COURT
Morgan State (5-18 Overall, 1-8 MEAC) fell at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Oct. 25 and at home to Delaware State University on Oct. 27 with identical scores of 3-2.
After winning sets two and three with a 2-1 lead, the Bears couldn't close the match as the UMES Hawks came out on top. In a similar scenario, Morgan State couldn't hold on to a 2-0 lead, falling to Delaware State. In both outings, Daniela Ferreira led the Bears in kills.
MSU ranks in the top 25 in two national categories. The Bears are 23rd in team service aces (161) and 19th in team total blocks (218.5), both lead the MEAC. Mya Karrick is 33rd in the nation in aces per set (0.46) and 27th in service aces (38). Jada Williams is 41st in total blocks (100 – 1st in MEAC)

Coppin State (11-14 Overall, 7-2 MEAC) went 1-1 last weekend falling to Delaware State 3-1 on Oct. 25 and shutting out Maryland Eastern Shore on Oct. 27.
The Eagles would come away with only the second set against the DSU Hornets and turned it around to dominate the UMES Hawks in three straight sets. Ezgi Kucuk, Sophia Bertotti Metoyer and TaKenya Stafford led the Eagles attacks and Kahea Carvalho had 20 assists in both matches.
Coppin State is 40th in team assists (1054), 48th in team service aces (145) and 50th in team kills (1121) in the nation. Stafford is 56th nationally in total attacks (860) and total kills (312).
