NORFOLK, Va. - North Carolina Central University junior punter Juan Velarde has been selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Football Specialist of the Week for his performance during a 30-16 road win over rival North Carolina A&T on Saturday.

Velarde (Anderson, S.C.) averaged 43.8 yards per boot, placing four punts inside the 20-yard line, including two at the 3-yard line, pinning the Aggies deep in their own territory.

Up next for No. 17 NCCU, the Eagles fly to California to face No. 24 UCLA on Sept. 16 in the Rose Bowl on the Pac-12 Network.
