DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University junior
Matthew Swepson has been announced to the 2023 Academic All-District® Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom.
Swepson, a throws specialist on the NCCU track & field team and native of Durham, North Carolina, owns a 3.843 grade point average as a business administration major with a concentration in IT cybersecurity.
The NCCU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) member earned the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championship Most Outstanding Field Performer Award for a consecutive season in May.
At the 2023 MEAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Swepson contributed 23 points, including a silver medal in the javelin throw and a bronze medal in the hammer throw.
In 2022, he picked up four medals, including a silver medal in the javelin throw and bronze medals in the hammer throw, discus throw and shot put.
