Women's Tennis Posts Most Wins in a Decade with MEAC Quarterfinals Victory

Relive the Top 10 moments from the 2022-23 North Carolina Central University Athletics season each weekday during June 26-30.

NO. 8 – North Carolina Central University achieved the most wins in a decade when the Eagles swept Coppin State University in the quarterfinals of the MEAC Women's Tennis Championship on April 27 at Cary Tennis Park.

This year's 11 victories matches the success of the 2013 squad. Among this season's non-conference triumphs were Hampton, Eastern Kentucky, North Carolina A&T, Longwood, and the program's first win over UNC Greensboro.

NCCU was sparked by freshman Alejandra Hidalgo Vega, who captured 16 singles victories to earn the 2023 MEAC Women's Tennis Rookie of the Year award and First Team All-MEAC honors. Fellow freshman Candice Bernier collected 11 singles wins to receive First Team All-MEAC recognition.
