BALTIMORE – North Carolina Central University captured three event victories and two runner-up performances during the Morgan State University Legacy track and field meet on Saturday in Baltimore.
NCCU junior
Joidon Boddie, the 2023 MEAC indoor triple jump champion, won her second women's triple jump event of the outdoor season with a mark of 12.26 meters.
Junior
Brenden Finger earned his first career triumph in the men's high jump with a leap of 1.88m, while senior
Ashton Drake accomplished the first event victory of his collegiate track and field career by recording a time of 10:32.71 in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase.
Freshman
Tia Lucas cleared 1.65m to place second in the women's high jump, and junior
Matthew Swepson posted a distance of 14.29m as the runner-up in the men's shot put.
Headlining NCCU's other top finishes,
Khamari Arrington (13.99m) and
Nelson Anderson (13.39m) placed third and fourth, respectively, in the men's shot put,
Kenya Hall (11.90m) finished third in the women's shot put, and
Alejandra Urraca (1.60m) placed fourth in the women's high jump.
Up next, NCCU travels to Philadelphia to compete in the historic Penn Relays, starting on Thursday, April 27.
