DOVER, Del. – Four North Carolina Central men's basketball players scored in double figures to lead the Eagles past Delaware State 66-58 to earn its third consecutive MEAC victory.
The maroon and grey offense was a healthy balance of inside and outside scoring which helped them shoot efficiently. They shot 47.7% from the field (21-44) and 41.7% from beyond the arc (5-12).
Junior guard
Justin Wright registered 14 points and six rebounds while shooting 50% (4-8) from the field and perfect from the charity stripe (6-6).
Reigning MEAC Co-Player of the Week
Kris Monroe scored 13 points while hitting all his field goals (4-4), including both of his three-point attempts. He was also three of four from the foul line.
Current MEAC Defensive Player of the Week
Brendan Medley-Bacon tallied 10 points, six rebounds, and two blocks.
Junior guard
Fred Cleveland Jr. provided a spark off the bench, finishing the contest with 11 points, four assists, and three steals.
Cameron Stitt led the Hornets' offense, who finished the game with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Up next, NCCU (13-11, 6-4 MEAC) will travel to Princess Anne, Md. to take on the Hawks of Maryland Eastern Shore on Monday, Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m.
