WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University track & field program made its indoor season debut at the Visit Winston-Salem College Kick-Off on Saturday among 30 teams. Sophomore Lamont Victoria (Prince George, Va.) finished first in the men's high jump event, picking up where he left off last season. The Eagles garnered three more top-three finishes at JDL Fast Track.
Victoria's jump of 2.14m came close to his personal best of 2.15m last season at the 2023 Brant Tolsma Invitational. Graduate student Micah Fulton (Pasadena, Calif.) led the women's team in both long and triple jump, placing fifth (5.54m) and third (11.41m), respectively. Sophomore Malcolm Forbes (Raleigh, N.C.) jumped a personal best of 13.81m placing fourth in men's triple jump.
On the track, the NCCU men's 4x400 meter relay ran a 3:25.37 time, finishing second behind North Carolina A&T. The team consisted of James Harris, Ryan Montgomery, Daniel Robinson and Nigil Waiters. Harris (Winston-Salem, N.C.) also ran in the men's 400m event and placed third with a time of 50.89. Freshman T'Sheylah Moore and sophomore Gianna Marquez both finished fifth in the women's 400m and 600m races, respectively.
North Carolina Central will have over a month to prepare for the HBCU Showcase on Jan. 13 in New York City.
