DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University men's basketball team went 1-1 to open the first week of the season. The Eagles look to keep their feet on the gas as they head to the University of Georgia on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 5 p.m. NCCU will have a quick turnaround as they return home to face Mid-Atlantic Christian University on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m.

NC CENTRAL BENCH
NCCU men's basketball secured its first victory on Thursday defeating Virginia University of Lynchburg 107-54. The Eagles dominated the game from the start, led by sophomore
Po'Boigh King's career-high of 26 points. Redshirt senior
Ja'Darius Harris dropped 20 points, while the duo of
Timmy Adedire and
Emmanuel Izunabor grabbed 10 and eight rebounds, respectively.
Two games into the season, King is the leading scorer for the Eagles, averaging 18 points per game. Izunabor averages six boards a game, and reserve
Josh Smith passes for 3.5 assists per contest.
Head coach
LeVelle Moton has stuck with the same starters in the first week. King, Izunabor,
Fred Cleveland Jr.,
Cobey Harraway, and
Keishon Porter have held the starting five positions. Harris and
Perry Smith Jr. have provided a spark off the beach for NCCU.
UGA BENCH
The Georgia Bulldogs have an identical record 1-1 to the Eagles heading into Sunday's match-up. After falling to Oregon 82-71 in the Naismith Hall of Fame series on Monday, the Bulldogs bounced back to defeat Wake Forest 80-77 on Friday evening. The expected starters for Georgia are Jabri Abdur-Rahim, Noah Thomasson, Silas Demary Jr., RJ Melendez, and Russel Tchewa.
Abdur-Rahim is the leading scorer for UGA to start the season. The New Jersey native is averaging 17.5 points per game, along with 4.5 rebounds. His teammate Thomasson isn't far behind, averaging 13.5 per contest. Tchewa is the leader in the paint with 7.5 rebounds each game.
Off the bench for the Bulldogs, Blue Cain and Justin Hill average seven and 5.5 per game, respectively. Georgia averages 71 points per game with a .338 field goal percentage.
MACU BENCH
During the Mustangs last time out, they dropped to 1-3 at Ferrum College on Saturday afternoon falling 107-52. Mid-Atlantic Christian was led by Joshua Tyler with 16 points. The expected starters for MACU on Tuesday are Tyler, Noah Richardson-Keys, Carlos Raven, Elijah Cox, and Talik Totten. Raven leads his team in scoring with 21 points per game, with Tyler averaging 18.7.
Seth Adams and Carter Robertson have seen significant minutes off the bench. Riley Jeremiah also played 15 minutes in Saturday's outing. The Mustangs are averaging 72.5 points per game, shy of 25 points against opponents.
