CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina Central University achieved 12 top-five finishes, including three event victories, during the Eagles' indoor track and field season debut at the Dick Taylor Carolina Challenge on Saturday, hosted by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
On the track, NCCU senior
Donnell Carter was the first to cross the finish line in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 51.33 seconds. In the field, junior
Joidon Boddie posted a distance of 11.92 meters (39-1.25) to win the women's triple jump, while freshman Lamont Victoria soared 2.13m (6-11.75) in his first college meet to claim victory in the men's high jump.
Runner-up performances were registered by sophomore
Brenden Finger in the men's high jump with a height of 1.85m, senior
Jaelyn Blanc in the men's long jump with a leap of 7.14m (23-5.25), freshman Malcolm Forbes in the men's triple jump with a measurement of 13.33m (43-8.75), and senior
Micah Fulton in the women's triple jump with a result of 11.81m.
Up next on the NCCU indoor track and field schedule is the Brant Tolsma Invitational, hosted by Liberty University on Jan. 19-21 in Lynchburg, Virginia.
