CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Freshman
Ashanti Eubanks started the game with a single, but the visiting North Carolina Central University softball team would be held without a hit from that point as host University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill picked up an 8-0 win on Wednesday evening at Anderson Stadium.
Eubanks singled to right field and then drew a walk to reach base in both of her plate appearances to highlight play for the Eagles.
The Tar Heels scored six runs in the first inning on the way to the run-rule victory.
UNC moved over .500 on the season at 23-22 with the triumph.
Freshman Carlie Myrtle (3-2) finished with six strikeouts in the complete-game victory.
The Tar Heels collected 10 total hits off the bats off nine different batters. Sophomore Tyler Brooks paced the victors with two hits, including a single and a stolen base in the first inning and an RBI-single in the second inning.
NC Central (9-29) will next host a three-game MEAC series against Coppin State University beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 23 at 1 p.m.
