DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University golf junior Kendall Wallace has been named the NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for October 2022 in recognition of his outstanding performance on the course and in the classroom.
 
Wallace shot a three-under par 67 in the middle round of the SAS Championship HBCU Invitational at Prestonwood Country Club on Saturday, Oct. 15, which tied for the second lowest round ever recorded by an NCCU men's golfer in program history.
 
Wallace then added a 69 in the final round to finish ninth overall in that event with a five-over par total of 215, which is also a new career-low, 54-hole total. His strong play helped the Eagles to a runner-up finish in the first year event that was contested in conjunction with the PGA Champions Tour SAS Championship in Cary, North Carolina.
 
Wallace would finish his fall season with a scoring average of 75.7 strokes per round over the course of five events, including 10 consecutive rounds in either the 70s or 60s to finish out the semester. His scoring average ranks second on the team heading into the spring season.
 
The resident of Blythewood, South Carolina, is an NCCU men's golf Debra Saunders-White Leadership Award recipient and a MEAC All-Academic Team honoree.
 
Wallace is a mass communications major at NCCU with a minor in business and he has worked at numerous PGA Tour and PGA of America broadcasts for CBS Sports, including the last two PGA Championships at Kiawah Island and Southern Hills, the Wells Fargo Championship at the Quail Hallow Club, Jack Nicklaus' the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club, the Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club and the Palmetto Championship at Congaree.
 
Wallace maintains a 3.48 cumulate grade point average (GPA) through the fall of 2022.
