DURHAM, N.C. - North Carolina Central University senior forward
Kris Monroe matched a career-high with 23 points, including five 3-pointers, as the Eagles remain unbeaten at home with a 79-66 triumph over UNC Asheville on Tuesday night inside NCCU's McDougald-McLendon Arena.
Monroe made 9-of-13 field goals, including a 5-for-9 performance from long distance, which marks the third time in his career with five triples.

Justin Wright added 16 points for NCCU, senior guard
Eric Boone collected 11 points, seven assists and three steals, and senior guard
Marque Maultsby tallied 10 points. Center Brendan Medley-Bacon grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and guard
Ja'Darius Harris contributed nine points off the bench.
As a team, the Eagles converted 50% from 3-point range on 9-for-18 shooting against the nation's 13th-ranked 3-point field goal defense. Entering Tuesday night's contest, Asheville was holding opponents to 25.3% shooting from beyond the arc.
Asheville (4-3) was topped by
Alex Caldwell, who played for NCCU last season, with a season-best 16 points.
NCCU (4-3) stormed out to a 28-8 lead, but the Bulldogs trimmed the deficit to five points at intermission, with the Eagles ahead 34-29.
Asheville narrowed the gap to just one point, 36-35, in the first two minutes of the second half, but the Eagles posted a 14-2 run to take a 50-37 advantage and never looked back.
Up next, NCCU visits Radford University on Thursday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m., before returning home on Saturday, Dec. 3, versus St. Andrews University at 3:30 p.m. in McDougald-McLendon Arena, where the Eagles are 4-0 this season.
