The Eagles began league play with a pair of five-set affairs in Baltimore, Maryland, last weekend. NCCU (2-10 Overall, 1-1 MEAC) got in the win column at Morgan State University on Friday, but slipped up to Coppin State University on Sunday.

The freshman duo of Tori Wilson (104 kills) and Kamren Harper (103 kills) have been evenly sharing the primary attacking rolls for the Eagles this season as they are both averaging 2.4 kills per set, which ranks ninth and 10th, respectively, in the MEAC. Wilson leads NCCU with a .292 hitting percentage and 0.77 blocks per set as she is third in the league with 3.13 points per set. Harper is chipping an addition 1.72 digs per set.

Another freshman in Emmie Modlin is third on the team with 1.52 kills while graduate student Autumn DeSantis has upped her average to 1.33 kills per set after averaging 2.00 kills per set in NCCU's first two conference clashes.

Defensively, sophomore Loren Johnson is third in the league with 3.98 digs per set while pacing the maroon and gray with 0.33 aces per set.

Sophomore Vanila Pulu-Suliafu is fourth in the MEAC with 6.53 assists per set and is second on the team with 2.42 digs per set. Pulu-Suliafu has four double-doubles on the season, including back-to-back double-doubles last weekend in her first two league tilts.

NCCU has won 14 straight matches against SC State, including 10 consecutive 3-0 sweeps over the past four seasons. The Eagles are 22-9 against the Bulldogs in NCCU's modern era (since 2007).

SOUTH CAROLINA STATE VOLLEYBALL

The Bulldogs also started conference play in Baltimore last weekend and they went 0-2 with a pair of 3-0 losses to CSU and MSU. South Carolina State (0-12 Overall, 0-2 MEAC) will be searching for its first win of the season when the Bulldogs make their home season debut on Sunday.

SCSU only has two players averaging over one kill per set.

Junior Semira Fields, who played three seasons at Grambling State University, has taken over the team lead with 1.74 kills per set. Fields is also tied for the team lead with 1.52 digs per set and ranks second on the team with 0.37 blocks per set for over two points per set.

Freshman Gabrielle Panzetta leads the Bulldogs with 0.67 blocks per set and is second on the team with 1.11 kills per set for over 1.5 points per set.

Junior Maya Rembert is the only SCSU player ranked among the MEAC's statistical leaders as she currently sits 10th in the league with 0.33 aces per set.

Junior transfer Siela Avea (Iowa Central CC) is listed as a hitter, but has been South Carolina State's primary setter by contributing 3.78 assists per set and 1.52 digs per set. Sophomore libero transfer Kiarra Rosales (Central State University) is chipping in 1.40 digs per set.
