DURHAM, N.C. – Johnnie Forte, a former North Carolina Central University defensive lineman and current ACC football official, will represent NCCU as the umpire in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on Monday, Jan. 10, inside Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
 
Forte played at NCCU from 1980-83, which included a CIAA Championship in his first season with the Eagles.
 
The Goldsboro, North Carolina, native also officiated in the 2019 Liberty Bowl (Navy vs. Kansas State) and the 2017 Cactus Bowl (Kansas State vs. UCLA).
 
Monday's national championship matchup features No. 1 Alabama against No. 3 Georgia. The game can be seen on ESPN starting at 8 p.m.
